5 Apps that Will Make Your Homebuying Dreams Come True

Homebuying in our modern world is different than the way our parents used to search for houses. People are driving through neighborhoods less and less and opting instead to search for houses online. Using an app on your phone to search for real estate is the latest craze and we totally get it. Apps make it easy to find and share houses you love. You can easily see what different neighborhoods have to offer and you can find homes that suit you instead of your agent trying to guess at what you might like. While using an app is an awesome way to search for real estate, remember that your real estate agent is another professional who might have access to properties you haven't seen or considered, so give them a shot as well. Here are five apps that will make your homebuying dreams come true-- happy searching!

1. Zillow

This is the most downloaded real estate app--and it's easy to see why! Zillow is easy-to-use and has a variety of search features that will help you look for a home in a desired neighborhood. It also gives detailed information about each home and neighborhood. It will also let you save homes and neighborhoods and will let you know when new homes come on the market in your saved search. Be careful, however, with the home prices, since they aren't always 100% correct. Sometimes homes on Zillow are sold but still appear on the site as well. A Realtor can help you find a house that matches your preference on Zillow.

2. Doorstep Swipe

This app is kind of like Tinder, but for homes instead of relationships. You can create a profile, including information about your income and what you're looking for in a house and it will give you options to swipe right or left on. Doorstep Swipe may help you find homes you wouldn't otherwise see and it learns your preferences fairly well.

3. Homesnap

Do you ever see a house for sale when driving around but don't have time to write down the number or can't find any contact info? Well, with this app, all you have to do is take a photo of the house and it will find it for you, including home information and the current list price. Homesnap is really convenient if you're out and about and stumble across a house that you love.

4. Keller Williams Realty Real Estate Search

Did you know Keller Williams has their own real estate search app? If you're working with an agent from Lucido Agency, using the Keller Williams app will allow your agent to be connected with you as you search. It will also show you home information and all listings in the area, not just KW listings. It's a great app for finding a home!

5. Trulia Mortgage

Trulia has a home search app that's similar to Zillow and Realtor.com but we really prefer the ease of use of its mortgage calculator app. This app lets you use a slider to determine your income, down payment amount, and debt and helps you find out how much you can afford in a house from there. It will also let you change to different kinds of loan (VA, FHA, conventional etc). It will also allow you to change the interest rate and it breaks down your monthly payment so you can see how much of your mortgage payment is going towards the PMI or private mortgage insurance (if you don't put 20% down), how much is going towards your homeowner's insurance, and how much is going towards the principal. It's so useful!
